Our approach to creating unique characters were to draw inspiration from characters from all over media, and to not overlap any of the inspirations. For example, we thought that Lord Cade should follow the likeness of Dark Laser from Fairly Odd Parents, but Poppy was partially inspired by Mr. Meeseeks from Rick and Morty. We thought the difference in characters would help with replayability and overall interest in the game, as well as keeping the loop as fresh and exciting as possible.
