Greg Beaudoin Devlog #6 (5/11/2023)


Well, this is it. We finally did it! Space Mail is now completed and our beta build is available to be downloaded and play! Before I go into future additions and plans for this project, I wanted to take a moment to discuss what has been implemented since our last available build. 

Most notably, a plethora of new cutscenes has been added to our game, including some that have voice acting in them. We worked really hard on this, going so far as to revamp our entire mission system in order to make sure specific cutscenes and voice acting corresponded to certain missions. Not all the cutscenes and voice lines may be in our game yet, but they will certainly be added in the future. On top of that, we implemented some more upgrades for each of the minigames, allowing for more replay value as well as giving the player an incentive to earn a higher score. Some of these upgrades are repeated, meaning that you purchase it once and can use it whenever, while others are tiered, meaning that you can build upon them to increase their effectiveness in game. We also added a logo screen displaying our game studio, Precipice Games, as well as a credits screen thanking everyone who worked on or contributed to our project. 

In terms of where we go from here, we have plans to hopefully return to this game and add more features as well as resolve any bugs or issues. We want to include more voice acting, cutscenes, minigame connectors, upgrades, level variety (space pirates potentially), etc. We are all very proud of what we have accomplished with Space Mail. I cannot begin to thank each and every person who worked endlessly and put so much effort and dedication to make this game as great as it is. This capping game couldn't have been done without you and this game truly shows everyone's love and passion for games that we've developed over our time here at Marist. I hope everyone who plays this game has a fantastic time with it!
