Hello!
My goal when writing a side quest is to be able to highlight the tensions between The Church and The Heretics. Each quest has a backstory that clues the player into the overarching narrative they're apart of. It also shows them how their actions have consequences based on a morality point system for completing said quests.
For the Side Quest 1 on the Farm, it's a way for players to be introduced to the morality system and the merchants hut. For Side Quest 2 in the Mines it's main directive is to showcase The Church's lack of compassion towards the Heretics, and for Side Quest 3 in the Residential area, it's mainly to showcase how little The Church cares about the people of Abyssal.
