Nate's Devlog 8- Phase 1- Implementation
This past week was sort of the setup for the phase implementations I'll be getting into for this sprint. The past sprint was all about polishing and further implementing more item descriptions and journal entries. The story is nearing its end and likely will end this week with journal number 12. I'm drumming up some big twists I'm hoping I can implement and really make the journals stand out. The twist I really want to implement has to do with the author continuously finding fewer and fewer bodies as he ventures deeper into the abyss.
As for things currently being worked on I've had meetings with both the design lead and my narrative writers for the implementation portion of Phase 1. The big part of this sprint is making sure we can get all of the dialogue interaction, character portraits, and thoughts/quotes into yarnspinner and into the game. This is finally the portion where the writing is going to be shown in-game and in the demo coming up in a week and a half. It's a super exciting time but there's so much to do.
For the future, I'm hoping that we get all the implementation done by Sunday, which I explained to the rest of the narrative department. This is because if we can finish early we can start to implement things that weren't necessarily going to make it into the final build. We had such great ideas for Minibosses and I would have loved to write about that in the journals and had that be the monster our author fell to, but currently, I have to end it without that out. Either way, I'm excited to see how much we get done and how quickly we can start to move forward.
