Tyler Pranger - Devlog Post #7
For this past week, I continued work on the items that our design and programming teams plan to implement. The two icons that I created this time were for an item called ‘Ritual’, and an icon called ‘Treasure Hunter’. When creating the ritual icon, I wanted to make sure that I did not make any specific references to any religion. This was because I wanted to avoid our game to have any offensive material, as rituals are often associated with dark magic. However, I was able to create a rusty blade stabbing into a bloody symbol on a paper, keeping the aspects of an eldritch ritual into the game.
For Treasure Hunter, I wanted it to simulate Grace finding a small stash of treasure within the Abyss. To do this, I drew a small sack, intended to seem like it was holding coins, as well as a flashy gemstone leaning against it. Both of these icons should be ready to be added into the game.
For the future, I will continue to focus on items that are ready to be implemented, and I will also be trying to added in a rarity system for some of the original items that I created. As the game gets closer to its deadline, I can feel the pressure of crunch time creeping up on myself and the team. But I know that we can pull through, and come up with a great product.
