During this sprint, I worked with Hunter on a design for a potential Miniboss for Whispering Abyss. We decided to take one of our current enemies, the Eyespring or "Spoink" as some of us refer to it, and create a bigger, more threatening version of it. What we ended up with was creating a "Mega Spoink", which has two additional attacks to the melee attack that the regular spoink does: the laser attack, and the eye roll attack.


The laser attack is the Mega Spoink's long-range move that it uses when the player is at the farthest range that the Mega Spoink can reach or is on a platform that is out of reach for the Mega Spoink. It will have a charge up animation, so the player has time to either dodge out of the way, or parry the incoming laser.



The eye roll attack is the Mega Spoink's medium-range move in which the large eye on the Mega Spoink pops out and rolls at the player, before rolling back into its body. This attack is not parry-able, however, and needs to be dodged.

Reflection

I was pretty pleased with what Hunter and I managed to accomplish this sprint. I think we came up with enough detail to show engineers and artists so that they can judge the feasibility of the mechanics and animations we proposed. I did not have very much work assigned to me for audio this sprint, but I anticipate more of that will come from this upcoming week.

Next Steps

Next, I will have engineers and artists review this enemy design proposal. I will also find accompanying SFX for the Mega Spoink. Finally, I will help Dylan record the new voice lines for Grace, as well as anything else he has planned.
