Panic! At the Slums District!


Howdy folks! System Designer Dillon here with another look at the inner working of our upcoming title City of Abominations!

Today we're taking a look at the NPCs of the game, specifically, how they interact with you and the monsters prowling the streets.

The normal denizens of the city are a fearful bunch, quick to run away upon encountering a dangerous monster or murder-prone player. They'll flee if a monster gets too close, but they may just end up running into another enemy (or you!) as they do so, as their fear clouds their senses, leaving them with less of an awareness of what's around them as they run away.

You'll need to be careful not to hurt them as they run away; they aren't nearly as durable as you are. Usage of the sleep spell while in human form will help keep innocents away from the line of fire... or leave them paralyzed as you go in for the kill.
